At a time of unprecedented technological change, the Technology Competitiveness and Industrial Policy Center at UC Berkeley continues to convene leaders in academia, industry, and policy to discuss how technological competitiveness and industrial policy might promote greater social and economic well-being in the U.S.
Our first policy study report addressed the nation’s dependence on China for battery imports, an appropriate and competitive strategy to build up domestic battery production capacity, and structural failings that led to offshoring of the production of U.S. battery innovations. Look out for our next policy study report on the global transformation to Electric Vehicles this June.
Our 2nd Call for Policy Study Proposals seeks independent, scholarly research that connects technology development, production, talent, and policy to investigate how the U.S. can turn technical advantage into scaled, fielded capability. Current topics of interest to our center include electromechanical batteries, semiconductors, electric vehicles, and nuclear power.
