BERKELEY, CA — Amidst growing international calls for tighter AI governance, the Working Group on AI Pause Feasibility, which includes TCIP study leads Dr. Andrew Reddie and Dr. Lindsay Rand, has published a new working paper, “The Feasibility of a Hardwired Pause of Frontier AI Training.” The paper evaluates the possibility of a hardwired pause on frontier AI technologies, and finds that such a pause would be feasible to implement now or in the near future, but its durability depends on geopolitical and technical conditions analyzed in the report.
